Since its formation, several years ago, the Community Cupboard has gone from strength to strength, now becoming an integral part of the Pershore Community.

We also continue to assist 5 local schools with termly donations of food items they have requested, to support children during school hours as well as Crisis parcels for families when times are tough.

When we have been able, we have also had the opportunity to support the Riverside Centre in Pershore and the Adventure Playground in Evesham.

In the last year we have seen the number of baskets of food given out, increase by 9%, to 8836 over the last year. This has been accompanied by an increase in requests for Crisis Parcels.

Unfortunately the supermarkets are attempting to target their own waste and in doing so we have seen a substantial decline in the amount of food we are collecting.

As the autumnal weather now begins to turn colder, we envisage an increased demand on the Cupboards resources.

With the loss of the Winter Fuel Allowance and increasing fuel bills we want to support our community to try and avoid the “eat or heat”

To this end, we are seeking donations to help keep the Cupboard stocked and provide food over Christmas and beyond.

With financial donations we are able to purchase every week, basic items for people to make a hot meal.

These items include rice, pasta, tinned vegetables, tomatoes, baked beans, soup, fruit, rice pudding and custard.

If you prefer to gift food items then we are just as grateful for these items, other tinned or dry items, toiletries, sanitary wear, cleaning products etc.

We have been humbled at the recent Harvest festival donations carried out in aid of the Cupboard, for the collections done in peoples porches, the donations “just dropped in as we're passing”, for those who craft items to sell in aid of the Cupboard, for those who donate their homegrown fruit & vegetables, forever thankful to those whose financial donations reach us at just the right time and for all you wonderful supporters who in turn enable us to support others.

If you would like to donate financially, you can do so to the Community Cupboard Restricted Funds at Pershore Baptist Church by bank transfer. The bank details are:

Pershore Baptist Church

HSBC Bank,

Sort Code: 40 47 17

Account no: 43937992

Reference: Com. Cup

This could be a one-off donation, or provide regular monthly support through a standing order if you feel able to do this. Any help is really appreciated.

Of course, we could not function without our wonderful team of volunteers who generously give up their time - collecting food from supermarkets, restocking, being present during opening hours, shopping, delivering to schools, cleaning, removing cardboard and ensuring the cupboard is able to function.

Thank you
